Sincerely 'fro me to you - Prom Edition

Ahh... the prom edition. Here I am on my way to prom with
my best friend Nate.

Let's give this my typical picture breakdown! Although, in my defense I must say
I went through this major "hippy stage" my last two years of high school. I lived on the beach on the Outer Banks (Kitty Hawk to be exact) of North Carolina.

NOW...lets give this picture it's proper breakdown...Starting from the head down:

1. My hair. Oh how beautiful sun bleached blonde it was. No I did NOT use Sun-in..it was all natural sun bleached blonde. Here is where the hippy starts. My hair is painstakingly parted in the middle with two braids that wrapped my head and joined in the back. I guess I thought I was one of those "flower children" from the 60's (no offense to my older FLOWER CHILD readers! hahaha).

2. My face. Of course in pure hippy fashion I DID NOT apply makeup. I guess in my pale pastyness I decided that I was too beautiful for makeup. I needed a tan badly. You are probably wondering "why no tan if I lived on the beach?" Well to answer that ... North Carolina is cold during the winter! It hadn't been beach bathing time yet! Plus, I lived on my own therefore could not afford to "fake and bake"!

3. My necklace. Ahh again adding to my hippy theme and matching my dress. I am wearing the quisissential leather necklace with the cool purple amethyst charm. Wow...I am a walking cliche!

4. The dress. Not TOO BAD. The bow could go. Although, beggars can't be choosers! This dress was borrowed from a friend! I am beginning to think she wasn't that good a friend to let me put on such a dress!

5. The legs. I am all pantyhosed up. Which is NOT very hippylike yet if you look closely I am wearing my leather ankle bracelt. With heels nonetheless!

6. My date. Nate. He was an awesome friend. Cool "surfer hair" and all. Look his outfit matches mine in colour and the black sets off my leather necklace and ankle bracelet! He looks so enthused also!

So there you have it...a memory caught in a photo. Nate and I went to prom. Hung out for maybe 30 minutes then he went with his girlfriend and I went party hopping...only to end up at the party Mothers Against Drunk Driving was hosting and giving away a car (all the parties got busted early!). Only if they knew that the backpack I was carrying had a six-pack of Zima in it (no I didn't drink any!)! I know...BAD TEENAGER!!!! All in all it was a good time.

For a hippie you look totally "with it" - especially the dress. That dress is a sign of the times! =) Shane

You didn't need make-up at all. A natural beauty for sure!

I pray you & yours are safe from Ike! We are hunkering down here preparing for the worst but praying for the best.

My sister had that exact same dress for her eighth grade dance and I coveted it something awful at the time. Wow, "memories!" Blessings, Whitney
